Don't Waste Your Time And Money
TLDR: Strip House misses the mark on the vibe and the steak. It doesn’t get its own joke. While you might get lucky and order well (ie. you chose filet), this classic establishment simply isn’t worth the risk for the price.

Strip House is an old school (or maybe just old) steakhouse. With a name like Strip House, you’d expect the experience to be a bit cheeky – something to remind you with a wink and a smile that this kind of place used to be for gentlemen only. A place where you sip a martini or a whiskey on the rocks and pretend you’re Don Draper. But little about Strip House feels sexy.
Despite the red lights intended to create that sexy steakhouse ambiance, this is mainly a family joint. The tables are crowded too close together and the walls are lined with 1930’s stars no one in your group will recognize. It would not be surprising to spot a 5 year old with his finance bro dad here. Put simply, the joke is lost.
Now you may be thinking, “who cares Emily? So it’s a family affair – you should know, you went with 10 other members of your family.” Touché. But had the Strip House delivered on vibe, we could have salvaged the situation by saying “hey, it’s not worth the steak dinner, but you should definitely go to the bar and live out your Mad Men dreams.”
Well I won’t say that and I won’t recommend you go for the steak either. Listen. It’s not all bad – honestly the lobster bisque and the filet mignon were great, and if you like anchovies as I do, you will totally enjoy the caesar salad. However, after tasting a bite of each steak on the menu, I can safely say that these are not worth your money. Other than the filet, every other cut was too tough and caked in peppercorn. I don’t mind a nice rub on my steak, but this was just too much pepper with no salt in sight. I may want bearnaise on my meat but I shouldn’t need it.
Strip House also has a Midtown location, which I’ve never been to because, you know, Midtown. If I had to guess, it might be the better of the two establishments, but I’m not about to find out. I’d rather save my funds for a better steak elsewhere.
