Review: Moonflower

 Solid Choice

TLDR: Moonflower is a great choice for your next happy hour hang with a friend. This cute little wine bar has a lot to offer, including good wine and way better than your average bar’s food.

Happy hour is a New York ritual. Especially in the summer, you’ll likely find yourself out at 5:30, glass of wine in hand, chit chatting with a good friend. And if you’re going to start drinking that early, you gotta have snacks.

Moonflower is a funky little wine bar in the West Village that not only serves good wine, but also great snacks. In fact, their menu can extend all the way into a full meal – there’s a pasta dish and toasts loaded with enough toppings that you could totally call them dinner if you wanted to. But if you just want a little something something to tide you over, they also have a fantastic bread and butter (the simple stuff is always the best) and a nice little cheese plate to pick at.

Not to mention it’s a super cute bar. With an aesthetic somewhere between flower power and Y2K revival, you can expect bright murals, macrame plant holders, and a disco ball in the bathroom. Plus, they have a decent amount of sidewalk seating in case you weirdly prefer to sweat it out on a hot NYC summer night.

As for the wine? I’m no expert but they have a wide selection of “indie” wines and I’m told that’s cool. Give me a crisp white on a sunny day and I’ll be happy, go to Moonflower and I think you will be too.
